TKL supporting the environment
Historically the charter vessel loading process has relied heavily on diesel powered forklifts, for the loading of ships. The buffer store operation of course has always used electric machines.
Last year TKL received an order for new state of art 8 Tonne electric forklifts from Germany. These machines have enhanced driver functionality and safety systems which was important to TKL in its it drive to provide an advanced safety environment for all on site.
As a result of this purchase 90% of all pallet movements on the wharf which includes both in the coolstore and on the wharf apron are now via electric forklifts (over 12,000 pallet movements per day).
This is a significant investment in sustainability, and we will constantly be looking for more ways to look after our planet.
